Wow! Photos don’t do it justice, but here are some anyway from the Zimbabwe side of the border.

What an awesome way to spend my birthday! After being sung happy birthday and given cake at breakfast, our small group tour disbanded and were dropped at our next hotels as we were all staying an extra night in Vic Falls. We were staying an extra two, before hitting the other side of the falls and the nation of Zambia. Before we headed to the Falls we checked into the Victoria Fall Hotel, the original colonial hotel that was built for the workers building the railway in the early 1900’s. As good fortune would have it, as we were checking in on my birthday they had arranged an upgrade so we were in the most amazing suite overlooking the immaculate front lawn!

It’s $50USD to get into the Victoria Falls National Park on the Zimbabwean side which seems very steep, but there were many many people queuing to get in. It was certainly a must-see location that is loud, wet and spectacular! The spray from the falls creates a unique rainforest environment around the area and there are parts where raincoats are recommended. After our visit we returns to the hotel and enjoyed pretending we were mega rich for a while. We headed to GOAT restaurant for dinner where we had invited our friends from the tour who had done their own thing today. Happily they all came for one last meal together before they headed to their respective homes. A very memorable and happy birthday – not sure I can top it next year!

Tomorrow we explore Victoria Falls from the air and enjoy a sunset cruise on the mighty Zambezi River!
Amazing Luke! What a great trip.
