Got back to Cape Town after our Franschhoek weekend and went to the V&A Waterfront for a couple of pints of Guinness at the traditional African-Irish bar as you do, before heading to the hotel and get organised for our 20 day overland road trip up through Namibia, into Botswana and the Okavango Delta and finishing at Victoria Falls. We met our guide Goodness (Zulu name Hlengiwe) at the hotel as well as the other group of 4 from Norway. There is another group of five joining the group in about a week.

Up early on Tuesday and loaded our truck. It seats 12 guests plus the guide Goodness and has a separate cabin for the driver Mike who is from Zimbabwe. The truck is purposely built for small group travel on African roads with seats that swivel 360 degrees for wildlife viewing, windows that can open for cameras, shelves for storage, a fridge to keep some beers cold and a toilet for emergency use only!

First day was pretty cruisey – got a final view of Table Mountain from the other side of the bay with the city in front, then drove a couple of hundred clicks north stopping at a farm that grew Roobius tea. Saw some cool weaver birds and guinea fowl. Ended up in Citrusdal which as the name suggests is the citrus growing area. Very much like Curlwaa or Paringi!

Tomorrow we have a long drive to the Namibian border!
What an amazing adventure, enjoy your road trip 😘😘
