We finished our time in Botswana with an evening cruise on the Chobe River, spotting lots of hippos and some massive crocs, as well as many water birds, water buffalo and elephants.

I just had to include the photo above. Credit goes to 13 yo Louis who captured it perfectly, putting my photographic skills to shame!!
After saying farewell to Chobe and getting rid of the last of our Botswana Pula we hit the the Zimbabwean border. The border here is interesting in that it is arguably the only true Quadripoint in the world, where four nations meet (Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia). Others claim that it is actually two separate tripoints 100-150 metres apart. Either way, a good option if you are trying to build your country tally quickly.

After our border crossing we entered the USD town of Victoria Fall$. With a history of rampant inflation, USD is now the preferred currency in Zimbabwe and subsequently everything is very expensive, compared to where we’ve been. On the way in to town there was quite a bit of wildlife we spotted from our truck, including a cute baby elephant and some (also cute to some) warthogs!

Tonight we opted for some culture and went to a local theatre production which was very good. Tomorrow is the last day of our small group tour (and also my birthday 🎂!) which is very sad as we have been blessed with a great bunch of travelling companions with whom we have shared great fun, conversation and experiences of a lifetime. Thanks to Goodness our guide, Mike our driver, and our new Norwegian friends – Benedikte, Eskil, Erica and Steffan, and new Swiss friends – Menno, Sophie, Tessa, Annelys and Louis, for the great memories! We have been so lucky to have traveled with you!
